# Company identity

Search GLEIF legal entities and fetch their identifiers, addresses, registration status and reported parent relationships.

## Call it

Use an agent API key, including a tenant sub-key. Management credentials cannot call tools. Available tools appear on your combined MCP endpoint when switched on.

```
https://mcp.deep.navy/mcp
```

Check [Tools in the dashboard](/dashboard/tools) for current availability. Your MCP client reads the current input and output schemas from the server. These are on-demand provider lookups; source freshness and coverage differ by dataset. For API-key provisioning, see the [platform API guide](/docs/platform); for failures and retries, see [limits and errors](/docs/limits).

## Coverage and interpretation

The Global LEI Index covers entities with Legal Entity Identifiers (LEIs). It is not a registry of every company, and a missing result does not mean a company does not exist.

Parent relationships describe reported accounting consolidation. Reporting exceptions are preserved; this is not a complete beneficial-ownership database.

Search by name, optionally restrict the country, then fetch the returned LEI. Continue a search with its nextPageToken and unchanged filters.

## company_search

Search legal-entity reference data, with an optional country filter and bounded, paginated results.

- query is required (1–200 characters); it searches GLEIF reference data, not just the entity name. country optionally limits the legal-address country using an uppercase two-letter ISO code, such as US.
- limit defaults to 10 and accepts 1–50. Read results and totalResults; fetch the LEI from a selected result for parent details. For another page, copy nextPageToken into pageToken and keep query, country and limit unchanged.

## Example request: `company_search`

Arguments for an MCP tools/call request. The values returned depend on the source’s current data.

```
{
  "name": "company_search",
  "arguments": {
    "query": "Apple",
    "country": "US",
    "limit": 10
  }
}
```

For the next MCP page, resend the example arguments with `pageToken` set to the exact `nextPageToken` from your response. Stop when no token is returned. Treat tokens as opaque; start a new request if you change the filters.

Direct HTTP API: POST the argument object to `deepnavy.company.v1.CompanyService/SearchCompanies`. The response is the protobuf JSON body, without an MCP envelope. Set `DEEPNAVY_KEY` in your environment before running:

```
curl --fail-with-body --request POST 'https://api.deep.navy/deepnavy.company.v1.CompanyService/SearchCompanies' \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer $DEEPNAVY_KEY" \
  --header 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  --header 'Connect-Protocol-Version: 1' \
  --data '{"query":"Apple","country":"US","limit":10}'
```

## company_fetch

Fetch one LEI record, including reported direct and ultimate accounting parents and any reporting exceptions.

- lei must be a 20-character Legal Entity Identifier. Use an ID returned by company_search; the example is an illustrative LEI lookup independent of the search example.
- Read company for legal and registration details, and parents for DIRECT or ULTIMATE accounting relationships. reportingExceptions explain some missing parents; absent parents do not establish that the entity has no owner. source.publishedAt, when supplied, is the GLEIF Golden Copy publication time.

## Example request: `company_fetch`

Arguments for an MCP tools/call request. The values returned depend on the source’s current data.

```
{
  "name": "company_fetch",
  "arguments": {
    "lei": "5493001KJTIIGC8Y1R12"
  }
}
```

Direct HTTP API: POST the argument object to `deepnavy.company.v1.CompanyService/FetchCompany`. The response is the protobuf JSON body, without an MCP envelope. Set `DEEPNAVY_KEY` in your environment before running:

```
curl --fail-with-body --request POST 'https://api.deep.navy/deepnavy.company.v1.CompanyService/FetchCompany' \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer $DEEPNAVY_KEY" \
  --header 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  --header 'Connect-Protocol-Version: 1' \
  --data '{"lei":"5493001KJTIIGC8Y1R12"}'
```
